The stage was set at the historic Melbourne Town Hall, the original home of Melbourne Fashion Week when it began 30 years ago, for the momentous Closing Runway. This was a joyous celebration of the past three decades of M/FW, with thirty integral Australian designers sending out retrospective and current collection pieces. Patent slingback heels dominated the opening looks, as Nevenka opened the show with pretty flower embroidered gowns flowing over ivory patent slingbacks. Christine on Collins and Jason Grech’s looks called for the sophistication of black patent slingbacks, whilst J’Aton Couture’s show-stopping gowns were a highlight, as models wore stunning sparkling strappy heels to elevate their moments on the runway.
Grace Lillian Lee opted for standout single strap silver ballet flats, as Micky In The Van/ The Official Saint Stella M paired quirky layers and intricate details with the super trendy yet always classic double strap black patent Mary Jane block heels in black and ivory. Aisha Ellén Garments also opted for these beautiful shoes, whilst Clothing The Gaps stood out with their important messaging and black and red patent block heeled slingbacks - a true favourite of the festival.
Frow members included influencers, actors, models, journalists, stylists, designers and musicians, including M/FW Ambassador G Flip alongside their wife, Chrishell Stause. The audience was treated to a beautiful performance of G Flip’s song, ‘Australia’, as the final looks took to the runway to close out what has been a truly memorable and remarkable Melbourne Fashion Week!
